Oval Cut Diamonds
The Oval diamond is an adaptation of the Round brilliant cut diamond, created in the 1960’s by leading Russian cutter Lazare Kaplan. The cut has an elongated, perfectly symmetrical shape which can make women’s fingers appear longer. Like the round brilliant diamond, it has 56 to 58 facets and optimises carat weight, meaning the shape has a larger surface area than a round diamond of the same weight, giving the appearance of a larger diamond. Ratio is an important aspect to consider with the oval shape as it can have a significant impact on both the light dispersion within the stone and the appearance of the finger.
