Asscher Cut Diamonds

Asscher cut diamonds were developed in the early 20th century at a time when the round brilliant diamond was the common diamond shape. Often called the "square emerald cut", the Asscher cut is a stepped square cut that has cropped corners, with 57 facets designed to draw the eye into the diamond. The cut became popular in the late 1920s but availability was limited. The Asscher cut was redesigned at the start of the new millennium, with additional facets for a more brilliant shine, and has regained its popularity.
